Asheville, NC –In response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on Western North Carolina, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), Safe Kids North Carolina, State Farm and Safe Kids Western North Carolina have joined forces to host a car seat distribution event for families in need. The distribution will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Reynolds Fire Department in Asheville.
This initiative will ensure that families affected by Hurricane Helene have access to safe and secure child car seats, a critical need for many displaced by the recent disaster. Certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technicians will be on-site to help install car seats and provide education to caregivers on proper car seat use.
“Families in Western NC have faced many challenges in the wake of Hurricane Helene,” said State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor. “Providing car seats and safety education is one way we can support parents and caregivers as they rebuild and keep their children safe on the road. We’re grateful for Safe Kids NC, Safe Kids Western NC and State Farm for helping making this event possible.”
