Mike Williams
Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal
Mike Williams is a lifelong resident of North Carolina where he serves as the Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal overseeing the divisions of Fire and Rescue Services, Commission and RPD, Governmental Services, Inspections and Ratings, GIS, Fire Investigations, Community Risk Reduction, and Safe Kids.
Mike worked in the Training Division at the Office of the State Fire Marshal where he created and taught numerous statewide firefighter classes for six years before moving to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office where he served as an investigator and a task force officer with the US Drug Enforcement Agency. He returned to OSFM in 2017 in the role of Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal where he continues to serve the citizens of North Carolina.
Mike has been a member of emergency services for more than 35 years as a volunteer firefighter and he currently serves as Assistant Chief with the Northwest Harnett Fire Department. In addition, Mike served on the Board of Directors for the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors for a number of years where he advocated for the needs of survivors with serious burn injuries.
Mike and his wife, Kelly, live in Harnett County and they have two daughters, Claire and Campbell. He enjoys spending time with his family and helping his local community with needs identified through his church and his contacts in fire and law enforcement.
