North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey who is also the state fire marshal will distribute approximately $106,000 in grants to six Person County fire departments on Wednesday, Oct.6. He will also announce new ratings for three departments.
The presentation will take place at 3 p.m.in the auditorium of the Person County Office building, 304 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, N.C. 27573.
Grant checks will be presented to the Allensville, Hurdle Mills, Moriah, Timberlake, Triple Springs and the Ceffo volunteer fire and rescue departments.
Commissioner Causey will also announce the new ratings for the Allensville, Hurdle Mills and two Roxboro districts.
A fire department’s rating affects homeowners’ and business insurance premiums and helps signal how prepared firefighters are at responding to calls and battle blazes in their fire districts.
Commissioner Causey will also give each department fire safety coloring books to distribute to their community’s children to encourage fire safety education and prevention.
