North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey plans to visit fire stations and insurance agencies during a trip to Union County on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will deliver ceremonial matching grant checks to two fire departments, the Griffith Road and Lanes Creek Volunteer Fire Departments, during the stops.
The two fire departments totaled more than $26,000 in matching grants. Statewide, more than 500 volunteer fire departments received more than $8.5 million from the matching grant program.
While at the fire stations, Commissioner Causey will listen to firefighters’ concerns and discuss efforts to improve volunteer recruitment and retention.
During stops at insurance agencies, Commissioner Causey will listen to agents’ concerns and discuss his efforts to modernize the insurance industry and make the N.C. Department of Insurance more consumer friendly.
