State Fire Marshal to announce new Asheville fire insurance rating Commissioner will visit the Asheville Fire Department at 10 a.m. Wednesday

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, who also serves as the State Fire Marshal, will announce a new insurance rating at a fire department in Asheville this week.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m., Commissioner Causey will unveil the new fire rating at the Asheville Fire Department.

The department recently underwent an inspection by the Office of State Fire Marshal. A fire department’s rating affects homeowners and business insurance premiums and helps signal how prepared firefighters are at responding to calls and battling blazes in their fire district.
