2012 NC Energy Conservation Code & Residential Energy Provisions – Modifications based on Public Comment
Attached for your information and review are the drafts prepared by the Project Team that integrate the decisions and direction resulting from our ad hoc and standing committee meetings on November 9 and 17, 2010. The direction we took in those meetings was to scale back the residential energy requirements of our proposed residential energy code provisions to more closely in sync with the prescriptive requirements of the 2009 IECC and to add a new voluntary appendix for those desiring to reach the 30% improvement goal that was the original mission. The commercial energy code provisions retain the 30% energy efficiency improvements as were developed initially.
The base Documents/BCC_Documents for the new attached drafts are the 2012 NC Energy Code and the 2012 NC Residential Code, Chapters 11 and 2 energy provisions that were previously posted to the NC DOI web site. The changes to these attached Documents/BCC_Documents are generally noted as strike-through for deleted information and underline for new information. The voluntary appendix for increased residential energy efficiency is entirely new and is added to both the proposed 2012 Residential Code and the proposed 2012 NC Energy Code
